Description: The Land Bridge Trailhead is the easiest access to the Land Bridge over I-75. The Land Bridge is the first of its kind, it was completed in 2005 through a partnership between Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Greenways and Trails and the Florida Dept. of Transportation. It is an invaluable connection over 6 lanes of high speed traffic for trail users and wildlife.
The trailhead contains approximately 4 acres of fenced parking; picnic tables, bathrooms and potable water are available as well as a horse wash, mounting platform, horse water and a trough.
The Land Bridge Trails section of the Greenway has about 3.5 miles of equestrian trails as well as 1 mile of the multi-use limerock road which is suitable for riding or driving if your horses have shoes. Trail 1 leaves the trailhead and travels through sandy pine flatwoods near the northern boundary of the Greenway to the Land Bridge. Trail 2 connects the Land Bridge to the southern crossing of 475A through beautiful oak hammocks and does not approach the trailhead. There is also a natural surface trail available for driving that connects the southern crossing of 475A to the limerock road approximately 1/10 mile before the Land Bridge.
